Tsukiji, Tokyo (2013)
Tsukiji is a district of Tokyo, famous for its fish market. It began operations in 1935 after being relocated upon the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923. In 2018 the wholesale fish market with its auctions for the global markets has been moved to Toyosu. The outer market for the locals remained.
The picture below were taken from within the restricted area very early in the morning. It was not only a great photography experience but also a fun cat-and-mouse game with the security guards. The people working there did not mind, in fact they seemed to have liked being photographed.
